Walrws - 60s Pop Classics with a Jazz Twist

The band play a range of the classic tunes from the 60s and by artists ranging from The Beach Boys, The Monkees, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel and of course The Beatles. 

The essence of the original is kept with a few changes to the harmony and the quartet have added in the spontaneous and care free outlook which many see as a big part of the 60s. 

The band consists of four musicians who have impressive musical CVs with them having played with the cream of British Jazz and toured extensively in their own projects and as part of others.

The playing, from a Wales based ‘supergroup’ is excellent throughout with the musicians buying fully into Chadwick’s vision for his chosen material.

The arrangements are faithful to the spirit of the original songs but allow plenty of room for variation, improvisation and self expression. They are thoughtful, imaginative and sophisticated, skilfully adapting the songs to a jazz aesthetic without sacrificing anything in terms of melody and beauty.

His re-imaginations sound unforced and organic, staying true to the spirit of the originals but re-inventing them with warmth and imagination.
