Concert: Vita Quartet
Friday 3rd July 7pm | Insole Court | £14 (Insole Court Members £12)
Formed in September 2024 at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, the Vita Quartet brings together four dynamic postgraduate musicians: Tatyana Wearen, Non Morgan, Lucy Varney, and Eleonora Savvidou. United by their shared passion for storytelling through music, the quartet is quickly establishing itself as an exciting new voice in the chamber music scene.
In their inaugural year, the ensemble was awarded the Bridgewood & Neitzert Chamber Music Prize, the highest chamber music accolade at RWCMD, in recognition of their outstanding ensemble skills and compelling performances. They are very grateful to receive ongoing coaching from the internationally acclaimed Carducci and Fibonacci Quartets and were recently selected for the Carducci Mentorship Programme at RWCMD for the 2025–26 season.
The Vita Quartet was also awarded a two-year residency at the iconic Norwegian Church Arts Centre in Cardiff Bay, where they have curated a series of innovative performances. March 2025 marked their London debut at the Royal Court Theatre, further expanding their growing presence on the UK music scene. Last year, they also performed at the Cowbridge Chamber Music Festivals, for the First Minister of Wales and were selected for the Wye Valley Schools Training Programme - reflecting their commitment to both performance and education. The quartet has also collaborated with Music in Mind, exploring creative approaches to musical communication and outreach.
Upcoming 2026 highlights include Wye Valley and Whitchurch Chamber Music Festivals, a much-anticipated collaboration with the Carducci Quartet in Mendelssohn’s Octet at Malmesbury Abbey, a special 30th Anniversary show with Welsh Rock band Melys and a performance at the Institute for Contemporary Arts, London for the launch of the new BBC drama 'The Other Bennet Sister'. They are really looking forward to collaborating with the celebrated film and tv composer Anne Chmelewsky and acclaimed clarinettist Robert Plane.
They are passionate about outreach, regularly engaging with schools and community groups to share the joy of chamber music and inspire creativity through performance and education. With a distinctive sense of chemistry and a love for expressive performance, the Vita Quartet is a young and ambitious group committed to developing their artistry and sharing meaningful musical experiences.
